Mission Statement:

About Better Green Academy, Inc. - Founder, Head of School, Coach Torrey Harris
From January 2004 to present-day, nonconsecutively, I have taught social science (Humanities, American History, Political Science, Geography, Economics, World History), English Language Arts, middle and high school grades mathematics, and science, physical education, from pre-kindergarten levels to 12th grade level. The learning environments consisted of large traditional schools, small charter school systems, small private micro religion schools, small emotional/behavioral self-contained classrooms, and small behavior alternative school settings.
My past career teaching roles consisted of Business Education Teacher, Social Studies Teacher, Head Basketball Coach, Head Football Coach, Special Education Teacher, Special Education Paraprofessional, Department Chairperson Social Sciences/Instructional Coach, Physical Education Teacher, Lead Teacher, and Athletic Director.
From 2007 to 2010, I was able to take a career in the pest management industry which led to business real world experience that built a business skill set which would motivate me to take the skill sets learned, to leverage my landscaping horticulture installation business to prosper.
From 2011 to 2013, I was an educator with South Metro (GNETS) Georgia Network for Therapeutical Services with Clayton County Public Schools, for scholars with autism, emotional, and behavior disorders.
From 2013-2014, I was able to successfully complete the Dekalb County Police Academy with a certification from the Georgia Peace Officer Standards & Training Council (P.O.S.T.) for the Dekalb County Sheriff's Office of Decatur, Georgia. The experience influenced me to return to education to mentor the youth and prepare them for the real world, as a prevention to avoiding criminal and civil crimes.
2014 to 2015, I was an educator with North Metro (GNETS) Georgia Network for Therapeutical Services/Metro RESA of Smyrna, GA, for scholars with autism, emotional, and behavior disorders.
By 2015, I was blessed to meet all GACE educator requirements to teach social sciences in the state of Georgia and met all requirements for GACE Educators Ethics assessments requirements. By November 2016, I was awarded, “Teacher of the Month” with Georgia Magnet -Charter Schools Foundation Inc. (Hapeville Charter Schools).
By 2017, in my 20th season as a landscaping business contractor and business owner, led to local metro Atlanta, Georgia small governmental contracts leading to the company's expansion.
In 2020, having a concern for the educational achievement gaps in traditional schools and charter school systems. I created, T.H. Business and Social Science Education, Inc. This was my vision to create an education consulting firm and future learning academy to promote betterment, to promote instructional rigor in education, and to promote differentiation instruction for scholars to use their creativity and interest to become critical thinkers while using social science and business education concepts to be successful in today’s society and beyond.
By 2022, having a passion to educate scholars, I began my journey as a motivational speaker at many “Career Day” events at local Atlanta metro area schools.
2022-2023, took on the role of (STEM) Science Technology Engineering Mathematics, Capstone and Social Science Teacher at Fulton Academy of Science & Technology of Roswell, Georgia.
In 2023 with a continued passion to help, inspire, and push others to greatness, my mission and vision was to teach others how perseverance, 20% of effort leads to an 80% outcome, hard work, faith in Jesus Christ, prayer, and fasting leads to a lifetime of peace and joy for success in all you do. This vision led to my self-published books as the following:

From 2023 to 2024, I was able to take on a role in a privately owned wholesale distribution company that was established in 1939 in corporate America. My position as a Sales Tracking Administrator is where I gained skill sets in business to later teach scholars business applications in real world markets.
From 2024 to 2025, I expanded my instructional expertise as a Special Education Teacher at SESI Schools/Fulton County Schools Peak Academy Alternative School in Hapeville, Georgia. In this role, I taught a range of subjects, including mathematics, English language arts, science, and social studies, while supporting diverse learners and addressing individualized educational needs and goals.
2025-2026, Middle Grades Social Science Teacher.
